Reds midfielder David Perkins is full of confidence ahead of the new season.

And last season’s Player of the Year believes the Reds can achieve plenty of success if they can fulfil their potential.

He said: “There’s a big buzz about the club and the town ahead of the new season. All the lads have come back in brilliant shape and we’ve taken the buzz from last year and taken that into our pre-season.

“Hopefully we can keep the momentum we got from staying up last season and build on that. To be honest we can do anything we put our minds too.

“Hopefully we can look at competing in the top half of the table.”

And Perkins is especially looking forward to playing two of the division’s northern sides this term in, what promises to be, another keenly-contested Championship.

“I didn’t play at Blackburn or Bolton last year, so being from that neck of the woods I’m looking forward to playing both of those clubs,” added Perkins.

“It was a good season for me last season, I felt privileged to have won the (Player of the Year) award.”
