BARNSLEY have extended West Ham striker Frank Nouble’s loan deal until the end of the season.
Nouble’s original deal endedon Monday and with goalscoring still a major problem for the Reds manager Keith Hill was keen to retain Nouble’s services.
But two Oakwell players at least look set to leave in the summer. Hill has revealed their is no future at Oakwell for defender Jay McEveley and more than likely midfielder Alastair Taylor.
McEveley is on loan with League Two Swindon Town until the end of the season, while former Academy Player of the Year Taylor has notstarted a first-team game this season. And with Hill hungry to recruit new talent during the summer, both players now look like they are going to have to try and earn themselves deals at new clubs.
“Jay’s at Swindon and knows the situation and it’s unlikely we’ll keep Alastair as well because there’s lot of competition for places in midfield,” Hill told The Star. He’s a good young player, but might be better looking to play somwhere else.”
Reds’ centre-back Rob Edwards has called for fans to give every little bit of support they can in Saturday’s home clash with Cardiff City.
The Reds’ Championship safety is not yet assured and Edwards is convinced a vocal crowd can spur them to victory. He said: “It would be great if they could come and back us in numbers against Cardiff. We are going to do everything we can to get the win.”
