BARNSLEY have offered goalie Luke Steele an improved deal at Oakwell.
Steele has been offered a new one-year contract, but the Reds have bettered the terms of their original offer. “I’ve had good talks with Luke and think he’s excited about our plans for next season” said manager David Flitcroft. “We’re hopeful he’s going to stay.”
Last season the 28-year-old was an ever-present in the Reds’ first-team and made 37 starts for the club. However, he was upset at only being offered a one-year deal.
“I’ve got to be honest the change over in Chief Executive [Ben Mansford replacing Don Rowing] has been difficult - and that’s slowed things down a bit in getting deals done,” admitted Flitcroft. “But since Ben’s come in things are starting to happen. He’s driving deals through. Ben’s grabbed the bull by the horns.”
