Barnsley midfielder Jacob Mellis is backing the Reds to string together their first back-to-back wins for nearly a year against Huddersfield Town on Saturday.
The former Chelsea midfielder is relishing the club’s trip to the John Smith Stadium as the Reds try to get one over former boss Mark Robins.
And if Danny Wilson’s side can get a victory on their travels it would be the first time since March last season that the Reds have won successive matches.
“I think we can go there and win the game” predicted Mellis. “They’ve not been on their best form, but we know they’ve got dangerous players. We can go there, attack and try and win the game.
“It’s harder to enjoy your football when you’re in a difficult situation. At the business end- it’s more about three points. But if you can enjoy your football as well as bringing in the points that’s a bonus.”
Mellis returned to the first team for Saturday’s 1-0 win over Millwall. That victory saw the Reds move within two points of escaping the relegation zone.
“I was glad to be back,” said Mellis. “I enjoyed the first half because we started well but Millwall took hold of midfield, so I was glad to get the points. I’ve been enjoying training and was waiting for the suspension to be over and get 45 minutes under my belt.”
