Barnsley defender Jean-Yves M’voto is confident it’s only a matter of time before the club kick into top gear in the Championship.
The Reds have lost both of their opening league fixtures, with last Saturday’s 1-0 stoppage-time defeat to Blackpool an especially cruel defeat to swallow.
But Frenchman M’voto, who has started in all three of the Reds fixtures this season – including their Captial One Cup first round win – is optimistic their luck will change.
“It’s very early in the season; it’s important we don’t read too much into the first few games,” he said.
“We’ve played well for moments and then not so well in others, but we’re confident we can do well this season.
“I thought we were very unlucky not to get a point against Blackpool, but as long as we maintain our standards, it’s only a matter of time before the luck changes for us.”
And former Paris St Germain and Sunderland centre-back M’voto hopes that luck – and form – will change at home to Charlton Athletic, the next visitors to Oakwell, tomorrow afternoon. The Addicks beat the Reds, who have former Celtic midfielder Paddy McCourt and ex-Brighton and Hove Albion man Gary Dicker training with them, 6-0 last season.
* Barnsley starlet Paul Digby has been called up to the England Under 19s squad ahead of their forthcoming clash at Estonia in Tallinn.
* The Reds are offering a ‘Kids for a Quid’ ticket for the club’s Capital One Cup second round visit of Premier League Southampton on Tuesday 27 August (7.45pm kick-off), while adult tickets range between £10-12, with OAP, Students (18-20) and Under-18s tickets £5-6.
