Strikers Nick Proschwitz and Chris O’Grady both registered as Barnsley came from behind to secure a 2-2 draw with Blackburn Rovers.
Proschwitz, making his Reds debut, having recently arrived on loan from Hull City until the end of the season, opened the scoring just before the half hour mark.
Dale Jennings then flashed a left footed effort over after being set up by Tom Kennedy.
But Barnsley’s joy was short-lived as Tom Cairney levelled things up in the 36th minute with a well taken finish from outside the penalty area.
It got even worse for the Reds on the stroke of half-time as Rovers took the lead through Rudy Gestede. His right foot drive flew into the bottom right hand corner.
Versatile Barnsley midfielder Jim O’Brien was passed fit to play, having shaken off a groin problem, but Ryan McLaughlin (hamstring) missed out.
Five minutes after the break, Chris O’Grady squared to O’Brien and he blazed wide when well-placed.
Barnsley were given a route back into the game in the 69th minute when they were awarded a penalty following a foul from Tommy Spurr. O’Grady made no mistake from 12 yards.
Rovers looked to hit back straight away and Rhodes raced on to a good throw in by Spurr only to drag his shot wide.
Josh King, a second half replacement for the visitors, jinked his way into the box and tested the reflexes of Steele but the long-serving Reds goalkeeper, voted man of the match by the sponsors, kept it out.
In a thrilling finish, Proschwitz headed O’Grady’s inviting centre narrowly wide while Robinson did well to palm out O’Brien’s delivery for a corner.
