BARNSLEY manager Keith Hill has demanded that his weary players keep battling to the end of the season with Championship safety still not secured.
A win for Barnsley on Saturday would have been enough to guarantee Championship football at Oakwell for a seventh consecutive season, but Liam Lawrence won the game for play-off hopefuls Cardiff with 20 minutes to go.
Hill said: “We’re still seven points clear of (third-bottom) Coventry with just three games to play, so we might already have done enough to be honest.
“But I certainly don’t want to end the season by carrying on with this disappointing run we’ve been on.
“We don’t want to be relying on other teams to help us out as we continue to chase our target.
“We want to make sure we stay up on merit.”
