Danny Wilson’s priority in the transfer market this summer is to find goalscorers.
The Reds boss believes there is a great opportunity for the right type of player to score plenty of goals in League One and his task is to unearth the gems.
“League One is an uncompromising league but there’s plenty of goals in it,” Wilson said.
“If you can find the right players to fill the right areas then you’re going to get goals.
“Our priority this summer is getting the best quality of attacking players into the club as we can.
“We also need the players in midfield areas and wide areas who can produce the chances for those players.”
Wilson insists that any signing must tick the box when it comes to understanding what Barnsley as a club is all about.
And part of that package is bringing plenty of excitement for supporters.
Wilson said: “The type of player we want is someone who knows and understands what Barnsley Football Club is all about.
“We need players with that determination and commitment but also with the style we want to produce in footballing terms.
“We want the type of player that will put you on the edge of your seat.
“A player that is a threat and who is going to be scoring goals.”
The Reds look set to hold onto 15-goal Chris O’Grady for the immediate future after Charlton Athletic failed to agree personal terms with the striker.
Millwall had also reportedly expressed an interest in the forward but failed to follow that up with a bid.
