Barnsley boss David Flitcroft should be boosted by the return of experienced defensive duo Lewin Nyatanga and Martin Cranie for Saturday’s away clash with Championship high-fliers Nottingham Forest.
Wales international Nyatanga and fellow centre-back Cranie have both been missing from the Reds’ side over the last few weeks with knee injuries.
But the international break has given the club time to get both players fit and they should return to give Flitcroft options at the back with his side have already leaked an alarming 18 goals in seven games so far this season.
Midfielders David Perkins (dead leg) and Kelvin Etuhu (hamstring) are also expected to be available for selection, as well as new signing Paddy McCourt who needed extra time to get himself up to match fitness having missed the chance to be involved with the club’s pre-season.
Meanwhile, Flitcroft has said that he is going to strip his growing squad down by trying to get some of his players out on loan with the likes of Danny Rose, John Cofie, Bobby Hassell and other players currently not getting much action potentially allowed to join clubs in League One and League Two during the emergency loan window.
