Wing-wizard Jim O’Brien believes a welcome win would do Barnsley the “world of good.”
The Reds have come close to picking up three points in their last three league fixtures.
But, unfortunately for them, they’ve had to settle for three successive draws as they continue their drive to get out of the relegation zone.
“We just need another win to get ourselves out of the bottom three, that would be massive for us” revealed O’Brien, speaking exclusively to The Star.
“It would be a massive psychological boost if we can get out of the relegation zone, when we do that I can see us really kicking on and moving up the table.
“The confidence has been good, even when it was tough at the start of the season.
“But if we can get out of the bottom three by getting another win under our belts, well I think it will do us the world of good.”
The Reds face Millwall at The New Den on Saturday, their first competitive match since the fortnight international break.
And having seen the Lions pick up a couple of wins when they were struggling earlier in the season, O’Brien knows only too well what a victory could do for the Reds at the weekend.
“It just shows you what a win can do for you, it lifts everyone and gives you that extra confidence,” said O’Brien.
“It makes you feel better about yourselves when you win and it’s great for the fans. At the end of the day confidence is good and the lads enjoy their football more when you’re winning.
“It’s been a tough start, but there are no easy games in this division. But what we try and do is have a set plan for every team we play and we always believe that we can get something out of the game.
“There is a bit of confidence now in the camp because we’ve gone unbeaten for four games, but the next step us getting out of the bottom three.
“A win can do so much for you – and we’ll be trying everything to get that against Millwall.”
