BRITISH number one and reigning national champion, Paul Drinkhall has signed a lucrative deal with Dunlop, becoming the first table tennis player to join the British brand’s current roster of sponsored athletes.
Rotherham-based Drinkhall, 22, will endorse the company’s table tennis range, including bats, balls, tables, footwear and clothing.
Drinkhall recently competed at London 2012 and achieved the distinction of being the first Briton since Desmond Douglas in 1988 to progress past the last-32 stage with a memorable 4-1 victory over the current Commonwealth champion, Singapore’s Zi Yang.
He plays professionally in the German Bundesliga for SV Werder Bremen and trains at the National Training Centre in Attercliffe, Sheffield.
Outside of the sport, he is a keen football and tennis fan. He supports Manchester United and counts Roger Federer as his sporting hero.
