DONCASTER BOWLS: Pilks Rec coast to home win

PILKINGTONS Recreation coasted to a 187-139 Doncaster Bowls Association Saturday League Section A win over Mexborough.

Christine Cox’s 21-7 win was the only bright spot for Mexborough as John O’Brien (21-6) and Kevin Richardson (21-4) caught the eye for Pilkingtons.

Roundwood kept up their title challenge with a 206-128 victory over Bawtry.

Wins from Mick Finley (21-6) and Pete Strutt (21-7) were not enough to save Thorpe Marsh Bentley from another defeat as last man Dave Presley won 21-8 for Mexborough.

Dave Hall (21-9) was the match-winner for Maltby Main in their 183-179 Section B win over Eden Grove-Peglers.

Mick Coulson (21-8) starred for Parklands in their 186-163 win over Roundwood B.

Archie Hughes won 21-9 for Rossington, but they remain in the relegation zone after Dave Henson won 21-5 for Armthorpe to help give the visitors a 182-170 win.

Jack Walker (21-8), Joan Wright (21-9) and Vic Heley (21-1) impressed in Rossington B’s 194-96 Section D win over Westfield Park B, for whom Jo Bubb recorded a a consolation 21-9 win.

Bawtry B beat Rossington B 203-159 with Marcus Thompson (21-5) and Hazel Cuthbert (21-8) doing well.

Jo Bubb won 21-9 for Westfield Park B, but wins from John Hall (21-7), Irene Burton (21-7) and Chris Guest (21-4) gave Carcroft B a 192-149 win.

Pilks Pensioners had six winners, including Tommy Parker (21-9), but husband and wife Alan (21-3) and Diane (21-4) Marsden won the match (178-162) for Hexthorpe B.
