Sheffield diver Nick Robinson-Baker has been selected for the World Championships in Barcelona later this month.
Robinson-Baker, aged 25, who is originally from London but moved to Sheffield to train at Ponds Forge as a teenager, will partner Chris Mears in the three-metre synchro event in Spain on July 23.
The pair finished fifth at last year’s Olympic Games and have had a series of good results this season including three bronze medals in the last three World Series events.
He said he’s looking forward to competing in Barcelona: “We’re excited about getting out there.
“It has been a compact season with a lot of events back-to-back but we’re ready for one last push at the big event. It’s like last year with the Olympics, we said we wanted to be ready for the finals and we were.”
Robinson-Baker has just returned from training in Majorca. He said: “We’ve just had a week ‘warm-weather’ training, but it was a bit cold to be honest!
“We decided to miss the European Championships to recover from the season and focus on the Worlds.
“We’re up against the best, but we’re looking forward to it.”
