MEGAN SYLVESTER’s Olympic dreams are back on track after an injury lay-off.
The Tankersley diver, aged 17, suffered a bad foot injury this year but is now back in training at Ponds Forge. The Olympic diving squad is one of the last to be chosen for next year’s games and Sylvester is learning a new dive in order to try and secure her place.
She said: “A new dive will help give me more of an individual focus. I’m still going to be in the synchro with Monique Gladding but I need to do everything that I can leading up to the games.
“Nobody knows until a month before and we have a Russian national performance director to impress. The main thing is to perform my best in tournaments leading up to the games.” Megan’s injury came alongside continued body growth, but she says: “Over the past weeks I’ve been building up my fitness; I’m in good position now.”
