Ossett’s Jaron Esteve produced a terrific performance to win the Yorkshire Open in Sheffield.
He started with two 4-2 wins, over Rotherhams Ryan Critchlow and county star Brian Hallas.
Ian Withers from Wisbech pushed him even closer but Jaron prevailed 4-3.
Then came a 4-1 win over Barnsley open runner-up Dennis Timmis before edging outWorksop’s Chris Cooper 4-3 in the semi final.
Final opponent Lee Budgen had seen off a string of good players after survivng eight match darts in the first round to Greg Beard and 10-dart hero Kieran Evans.
But he just ran out of steam in the final as Esteve stormed into a 4-0 lead, winning 5-1 .
* High Green’s Pamela Haigh was brilliant in the ladies event, hitting a 180 in the final to as she beat Yorkshire youth star Leah Wiltshire 4-2.
