AMATEUR cyclists training to ride this year’s Tour de France course will get a sneak preview of the 2014 stage into Sheffield today.

The ‘Tour de Force’ takes place a week before the Tour itself over the same roads as the famous race.

Training rides take place around Great Britain as a way of preparing for the roads of France and this year.

Sheffield-based cycling club La Squadra has been asked to host this weekend’s event. Nick Cotton, from La Squadra, said: “Saturday’s ride will be very challenging going over the Strines and using many of the roads that will be used next year.

“We’re looking forward to hosting the ‘Tour de Force’s’ cyclists.”
