A decent performance from Adil Rashid was not enough for Yorkshire as they slipped to defeat against a Sri Lanka ‘A’ side at Headingley yesterday.
Rashid, fresh from taking three wickets and hitting a half-century in Tuesday’s Royal London one-day Cup defeat against Gloucestershire, continued his good form with four wickets as Sri Lanka finished on 275-9. But despite half-centuries from captain Alex Lees (54) and Dan Hodgson (51), Yorkshire slipped and lost by 26 runs as they were bowled out for 249 inside 48 overs - with nine wickets falling to spin.
Yorkshire collapsed from 140-2 to 182-7. Sheffield Collegiate’s Elliot Callis made just ten, as Seekkuge Prasanna - who has played a Test match for his country - finished with a return of 4-42 from 9.2 overs of legbreaks.
