Yorkshire and Derbyshire League: Parkhead on verge of another title win

In the top-of-the-table Mylnhurst Yorkshire & Derbyshire League Division One clash of the day, league leaders Parkhead were bowled out by promotion rivals Holmesfield for 143 (J Carrington 43 D Holmes 4-24).

In turn, the home side were dismissed for exactly 100 (D Nellis 5-19), a result which surely secures another title for the Wheatsheaf side.

Lowly Hallam III were 67 all out, Sheffield Civil Service going to a routine win by nine wickets. Hollinsend Meths amassed 276-5, thanks to Ryan Sharp with 109 and Chris Marshall’s 90. Sheffield Centralians reply foundered at 121 all out.

Totley were sent back for 164 (M Khan 70* C Haywood 5-35), Stocksbridge chased this down for the loss of 4 wickets (O Cockbill-Black 50). Sheffield University Staff made a useful 184-9 (M Sharma 47 C Weerasinghe 58) and then bowled out De La Salle for 138.

There were some significant results in the tight battle for promotion from Division Two.

Leaders Hathersage scored 175-7 (S Askew 56* J Gillis 4-26) and sent back bottom team Baslow for 89 (M Ijaz 6-27). The ‘Sage now have clear water ahead of their rivals.

In their turn, the Abbeydale Park team racked up 265-3 as Chris Stewart hit another ton, this time 135 not out. Collegiate then held Calver to 184-4 (R Bramall 53).

Collegiate leapfrog Calver to sneak into second spot. Sheffield Medics smote their way to 237-7 (A Manwal 77 S Rajebhosale 51) and Ashford in the Water made a valiant effort, but were finally all out for 206 (B Drury 68 W Knifton-Smith 41).

Ashford slip a little off the promotion pace. Hundall were dismissed for 142 (A Hotchin 6-33) and slip into danger of relegation as Hollinsend Meths II won by five wickets (J Hotchin 53).

Totley II hit up a huge 292-9 (N Arif 102 R Reed 4-42) against doomed bottom team Bakewell, who subsided to 62 all out (A Hussain 6-18). Despite this, Totley stay in the bottom two.
