A good knock of 68 from Jacob Waterson and a three wicket haul from Oliver Pearson were not enough to stop Sheffield Collegiate losing out to Harrogate in their opening Yorkshire Premier Cricket League clash on Saturday.
Collegiate were all out for 184 with just one ball remaining in the face of some good bowling from their hosts. Apart from Waterson’s 68, only four others reached double figures. Meanwhile, new signing Tom Greeson-Brown took 5-33 for Harrogate.
Harrogatewent on to win on 185-4 in the 32nd over. Youngster Pearson did well to take 3-59, and Matt Dixon took the other wicket.
Sheffield United fared little better at Driffield, losing by 135 runs. New signing Johnnie Whiteoak took 3-71 and Rory McGibbons 2-78 as Driffield reached 329-5. Sam Drury was unbeaten on 151, while Nick Hardgrave was similarly not out on 53.
United’s 55 overs ended with the score on 204-8. Dinesh Hussein was their top scorer on 51, while Dean Smith added 37 and Chamal Rajapakeshas 34.
Doncaster Town won by four wickets at Scarborough.
Curtis Free took 5-29 and Alex Gosney 3-52 as Doncaster restricted their hosts for 222-9.
In reply, Simon Widdup scored an unbeaten 103 as Doncaster reached 226-6.
