DONCASTER Town Cricket Club warmed up for the start of their ECB Solly Sports Yorkshire Premier League campaign with a comfortable victory over local rivals Fishlake at the weekend,
Town batted first in the 45 overs per side game at Town Fields, reaching a very respectable 163 for 9.
Town’s knock was built on a big third-wicket partnership of wicket of 81 between newcomer Shahid Khan (43) and 16 year-old James Dobson (53).
The pick of the Fishlake bowlers were Adrian Gordon, 4 for 48, and Peter Moores, 3 for 44.
In reply, the Pontefract League side were never really in the hunt and were finally bowled out for 122 in the 36th over.
Top scorer was Stuart Coleman with 17.
The pick of the Doncaster bowlers were spinners Jonathon Redfern, 3 for 20, and Duncan Jones 3 for 24.
Town, who take on Harrogate Town in this weekend’s opener. have appoined Nick Morley as new 1st X1 captain following Andrew Parkin Coates’ move to Nottingham CCC.
Other departures during the close seasonn include hard-hitting opener Graeme Attenborough, Ashley Knowles and Dominic McGough.
Wicket-keeper batsman Jamie Harrison has joined the club from Sheffield United. Australian James Stuart will also return to the club.
