Yorkshire have been challenged to learn from their mistakes when they take on local rivals Derbyshire in the Royal London One-Day Cup today at Scarborough.

The Vikings can seal their place in the competition’s quarter-finals with victory over their neighbours, despite Monday’s defeat to Essex Eagles at their seaside home.

Tom Westley and Ryan ten Doeschate both scored centuries, and put on a 209-run partnership, as Essex chased down Yorkshire’s 290-6 and Yorkshire coach Jason Gillespie said: “We were disappointed but we can take some positives from Essex, and in particular how Westley and ten Doeschate, played the conditions.

“They taught our batsmen some good lessons and something we can take into the next game. We must look to be ruthless with our line and length when bowling, and bat with a little more intent.”
