A FOUR-WICKET haul from Paul Cummins was not quite enough Sheffield United to secure victory over high-flying Cleethorpes in the Yorkshire County ECB Premier League.
The Lincolnshire side climbed to second in the table on the back of the win, but they were made to work for the points by a strong United side.
United were all out for 119 as they chased down Cleethorpes’ score of 151. Joe Tetley was their leading scorer with 44 runs but Cleethorpes bowler, Alex Osmond, took 6-39 in 17 overs.
The Sheffield outfit had given themselves a good chance of getting a result after a respectable display from their bowlers. Paul Cummins took 4-32 in 13 overs and juniors Oliver Law and Zafran Ali took 3-46 and 2-29 respectively.
But Rory Osmond managed to make 58 runs before Cummins removed him and it proved to be too big a task for United.
Rotherham took all eight points from their encounter with Castleford, winning by 66 runs.
Barnsley took two points from their game against York as they lost by 16 runs.
