YORKSHIRE eased to a comfortable T20 victory last night at Derby against Derbyshire.
The Tykes set their hosts a reachable target of 151 after they scored 150 for the loss of five wickets. Skipper Andrew Gale (39), Sheffield’s Joe Root (36) and 47no from Gary Ballance hit the bulk of the Yorkshire runs.
Chasing the target Derbyshire got off to a decent start but once openers Wes Durston and Usman Khawaja had been dismissed the rest of the innings collapsed for just 109.
Richard Pyrah picked up three wickets for 21 runs and Moin Ashraf an impressive four for 18 runs.
One of the brightest prospects in English cricket, Tom Maynard, died yesterday morning at the age of 23 when he was hit by a train in London.
Surrey batsman Maynard was struck by a London Underground train just after 5am near Wimbledon.
It is thought that the Cardiff-born player may have been trying to avoid police when he died.
