ROTHERHAM Town know they must beat leaders York on Saturday or their Yorkshire League title hopes are over and York win it for a fifth straight season.

Rotherham’s 31 run defeat by lowly Appleby Frodingham and York’s ten wicket win over Hull on Monday took the gap between the two at the top from a nail-biting three points up to 11 ahead of Saturday’s meeting at York.

It means Rotherham must win and would then need to win their final game as well, at home to Scarborough, whilst York would have to lose at Cleethorpes.

Rotherham, chasing App Frod’s 192, were all out for 161, Jordan Lowe making 76.

Sheffield Collegiate made 300-3 (Elliott Callis 117, Alex Patmore 89) and Doncaster replied with 219-7 (Gareth Cox 84, Matt Dixon 5-77).
