ROTHERHAM Town have moved within five points of the Yorkshire League leaders York.

However, York have a game in hand and remain favourites to make it a fifth successive title. Rotherham are 23 points clear of third-placed Scarborough.

They won the local derby against Doncaster who made 201-9 with Felix Odell 60 and Jon Redfern 55no whilst Ben Sanderson took 3-52 to follow up his five wicket haul in the defeat of Driffield.

Stuart Guy made 64 to lead Rotherham’s winning reply of 203-4. Gerhardus Rudolph hit 51 and James Moorhouse 50.

The South Yorkshire League’s Mick Savage Memorial Trophy Final takes place on Sunday when Darfield meet Norton Oakes at Darfield.

Bradfield won the SYL President’s Trophy topping Sheffield United’s 238-8 (Nazakat Khan 60) with 239-5 (Paul Garnett 82, Shaun Smith 69no).
