Tendulkar passes Test milestone

AFTER becoming the first batsman to pass 13,000 Test runs, Sachin Tendulkar completed his 44th Test century as he continued to hold up Bangladesh in the First Test in Chittagong.

He finished unbeaten on 105 as India were dismissed for 243 before Bangladesh reached 24 without loss.

Medium-pacer Shahadat Hossain and spinner Shakib Al Hasan completed five-wicket hauls as India were bowled out on day two with only Tendulkar's knock and 52 from Virender Sehwag preventing an embarrassing score.

n Australia needed until only an hour after lunch to bowl Pakistan out for 206 as the visitors never threatened to get anywhere near their victory target of 438 and lost by 231 runs.

The result secured a fourth successive 3-0 clean sweep of Pakistan by Australia in a Test series and equals the record for most successive Test wins by any team against the same opponent in Test history - 12, which was held solely by Sri Lanka against Bangladesh.

After taking his first five-wicket hauls in the second innings of Australia's wins in Melbourne and Sydney, off spinner Nathan Hauritz helped himself to three more on the final day yesterday to finish with an impressive 29 wickets in six Tests for the summer, which also included three Tests against West Indies.

Australia, who made 519-8 dec in their first innings, added to their lead of 218 by making 219-5 dec in their second innings with Simon Katich 100 and Ricky Ponting 89.

Manzoor top scored with 77 in Pakistan's 206. Peter Siddle taking 3-26 and Hauritz 3-30.
