THE South Yorkshire League made an early exit in the Leeds Area Inter-League KO.
Despite posting a decent 253-8, they lost to the Halifax League by four wickets at Booth CC.
Fielding mainly First Division players, with some from the Premier Division, most SYL batsmen contributed. There were half-centuries from Jonny Allen, 55, and Hennie Swart 53 whilst Alex Hughes made 36, Ash Fidler 35 and James Ward 31.
At 51-4, Halifax were in trouble but a stand of 97 revived them and then came a matchwinning, unbroken century stand to take them to 256-6 with four overs to spare.
Both Sheffield Collegiate and Doncaster Town went out of the National KO Cup.
Collegiate’s 253 (Billy Root 101, Ed Callis 33) was 16 runs short of Sandiacre’s 269-7 (Will Street 3-46).
Doncaster faced a Mansfield FM total of 264-4 and made 232-9 (James Stuart 56).
