Steve Hicks joined an illustrious list containing the likes of Sir Garry Sobers, Herschelle Gibbs and Yuvraj Singh last weekend when he clobbered six sixes in Brookhouse’s South Yorkshire Alliance win over Whitley Hall Colts.
Steve’s astonishing innings helped Brookhouse overcome Whitley’s challenging 236 total (Oliver Warren 106*). He finished not out on 147, and piled on an unbroken 174-run partnership with Scott Jones to win the game.
Tom Green, Brookhouse CC secretary, said: “Steve was happy that he had achieved such a feat in cricket, as six sixes in an over is an extremely rare occurrence.
“He was also conscious that the team still had a long way to go to reach our target, as a Brookhouse victory was more important than individual accolades. He wasn’t really thinking about being able to achieve six sixes as he was focused on reaching a very challenging target.”
