AN ANNIVERSARY celebration for one of Yorkshire’s trophy winning sides has been arranged by Sheffield Cricket Lovers’ Society.

Their Autumn Dinner will take the form of a tribute to the Yorkshire team which won the Benson and Hedges Cup in 1987 at Lord’s.

Most members of that team have confirmed their attendance at the November 19 function including Martyn Moxon, Arnie Sidebottom, Ashley Metcalfe, Kevin Sharp, Neil Hartley, Paul Jarvis, Peter Hartley and Stuart Fletcher along with the widows of David Bairstow and Phil Carrick. Venue is Baldwin’s Omega.

Next Monday, Henry Blofeld is guest speaker at the Society’s Charity Lunch.

Leading cricket writer and former Glamorgan and England batsman Steve James is guest speaker at Wombwell Cricket Lovers’ Society’s meeting next Thursday at Ardsley Oaks WMC (7.45). All welcome.

Mickey Stewart visits Sheffield CLS on Oct 8 and Wombwell CLS the next night.
