A JUNIOR cricket team which lost its final league match of the season after an undefeated run has got through to the finals of a cup contest.
The under-17s squad at Hollinsend Methodist Cricket Club won the Paramore Cup semi final against Aston Hall and will now play Sheffield United Cricket Club in September.
Their victory came just two days after their league champion dream came to an end.
John Dawson, director of cricket, said: “It was a bit of a boost because the team was demoralised after losing the last league match.
“Managers Ryan Sharp and Chris Marshall managed to lift their spirits for the cup match and they won.
“One lad, Jake Hill, scored 50 and they all played extremely well.
“They are a group of lads who have stuck together for six years, playing for all the age groups and have got better and better.”
