england bowler James Anderson said the side is feeling satisfied with what they have got out of the opening three day match in India.

“We had a couple of players getting hundreds along with a couple of fifties and others got a knock too whilst there was a decent workout for the bowlers,” said Anderson. “We’re satisfied with what we’ve got out of it.”

The game ended in the inevitable draw after England, resuming on 286-4, were dismissed for 424 with Samit Patel going on to make 104. Alastair Cook added only seven to his overnight 112.

Matt Prior hit 51 and Tim Bresnan 33no as England enjoyed a lead of 54. India A closed on 124-4, Anderson taking a couple of wickets with Bresnan and Patel one each.

The next three-day game is on Sunday against Mumbai A and Sheffield’s Joe Root is set to play.
