ROSSINGTON retained their grip on the Doncaster Infirmary Evening League Senior Cup after beating Pegler by six wickets in the final at Conisbrough.
Peglers won the toss and decided to bat, only to lose in-form opener Matt Smethurst cheaply to James Needham.
Along with Dom McGough, Needham bowled a good early spell for Rossington - both completing their four overs with figures of 1-16.
Steve Dinnage (17) and Ross Adamson (14) began to chip away with a view to setting a total to chase.
But the Rossington spinners took control of the game. Mark Atkins took 1-7 in his three overs and Alex Rowland 4-14 in his four.
However, some lusty hitting from skipper Gulrez Rehman (28), Dean Williamson (20) and Scott Mantovani (22) helped take Peglers to 108-8 at the close.
The holders set about their task with relish when they replied and Greg Mann (35) and Richard Morrell (17) gave them a good foundation on which to build along with Andy Gardiner (24) before Williamson dismissed all three of them and Rossington skipper Pete Harvey for 15 in his four overs.
Rossington, regrouped, however, and gradually ran down the Peglers’ total without the loss of any more wickets.
Nine-man Hatfield Main suffered a 62-run Division Three defeat at home to Straco Recruitment in a game reduced to 16 overs a side due to rain.
Straco batted first and made 141-5 with Ashley Grace (51 not out) and Lee Chipsmith (48) providing the bulk of the runs. Adam Berriman (3-20) was the pick of the Main attack.
Main were 75-5 in reply - Andrew Stuart (20 not out) and Lee Dunphy (20) sharing their batting honours. Mel Bond grabbed 3-22.
