ALASTAIR Cook confirmed he is on song with a century in England’s second and final warm-up match in Dubai ahead of next week’s Test series against Pakistan.

He made 133 and when he was dismissed Andrew Strauss declared on 269-9.

The Pakistan Cricket Board XI closed on 23-0 with Graham Onions and Chris Tremlett having opened the bowling,

Cook held things together but there will be concern that some of England’s top order have had little in way of good preparation.

Strauss - who made 78 in the previous games - made only three and there were ducks for Jonathan Trott, out third ball, and Ian Bell, out second ball. Eoin Morgan managed just 11.

Kevin Pietersen made 38 but at 121-5 England were in danger of fading badly, However Cook and Matt Prior, 46 with seven fours, added 90 for the sixth wicket.

Then Graeme Swann, having passed a fitness test on his thigh, made 24 to help Cook add a further 46.

Leg spinner Yasir Shah took five wickets for the PCB.
