Promotion-chasing Yorkshire clawed their way back into the match after bottom-of-the-table Glamorgan had caused them some early headaches on the first day of the LV=County Championship Division Two clash at Headingley.
Asked to take first knock on a good batting pitch, the Welshmen blossomed through an opening stand of 124 between Will Bragg and Nick James but Yorkshire’s bowlers improved later in the day to bowl out their opponents for 272.
Steven Patterson took 4-49 and there were two wickets each for Anthony McGrath, Ryan Sidebottom and Azeem Rafiq. Yorkshire, who closed on 20 without loss, made one change from the side which beat Gloucestershire last week, Sidebottom returning to the team at the expense of Adil Rashid after recovering from back muscle spasms.
Derbyshire boosted their title bid by bowling Kent out for 261 at Canterbury. Derbyshire were 32 for one at stumps but may be without opener Paul Borrington for day two. He went off with a fractured nose.
