A STUBBORN batting performance from rivals Hull stopped Rotherham Town from securing an eight-point victory, but they kept pace with leaders York in the Yorkshire Premier Cricket League on Saturday.

A STUBBORN batting performance from rivals Hull stopped Rotherham Town from securing an eight-point victory, but they kept pace with leaders York in the Yorkshire Premier Cricket League on Saturday.

Batting first, Hull finished on a good 240-4. In reply, Rotherham reached a winning 241-5 after 42 overs, with James Moorhouse scoring 81 and Gerhardus Rudolph 56 to help secure a five-wicket win.

Sheffield Collegiate were well beaten by a strong Yorkshire Academy side on Saturday. They were all out for just 76 in the 32nd over while the Academy lost just four wickets chasing the runs.

Sheffield United secured a much-needed eight-point win over bottom of the table Doncaster Town, winning by 157 runs. Nick Beneke scoring 124 and Riaz Richards 71, while James Dobson with 3-57 was the pick of the Doncaster bowlers.

They totalled 289-6 in their 55 overs. Doncaster were all out for just 132.

Barnsley lost by eight wickets against Cleethorpes. They totalled 135-8 in their innings. Cleethorpes reached 136-2 in the 33rd over.
