Whitley Hall’s attempt at a remarkable hat-trick in Yorkshire’s most prestigious knockout is over.
Winners of the Black Sheep Yorkshire Champion of Champions Trophy for the past two years, they looked poised to enter the semi-finals this time only to fall to Bradford League champs Woodlands.
They had restricted Whitley to 208-8 from their 50 overs and despite losing two quick wickets, their reply was going nicely at the halfway stage at 115-3.
However, left arm quick Sarfraz Ahmed, the man responsible for the early damage, returned to dismiss Jaco Castle for 22 and Whitley were eventually dismissed for 180. Opener Neil Longhurst made 70.
n Treeton’s 243-8 was blown away by last year’s national champions York in their ECB National Club Championship clash at Treeton. Openers Duncan Snell, 148no and Jack Leaning, 74no, knocked them off in 38 overs.
In the Group final on June 23, York will host Doncaster Town who made 195-7 (Simon Widdup 55, Gareth Cox 32) and then dismissed Hanging Heaton for 132 (Curtis Free 4-35).
