Lee's spree in vain
PARKLANDS failed to make home advantage pay against Doncaster & Sheffield League Alliance Premier Division rivals Shiregreen Seconds.
The Doncaster side made a solid start after being put into bat with both openers Lee Cullingworth, who struck four sixes and two fours in a hard-hitting 39, and Gavin Meadows (25) scoring well.
But of the subsequent batsmen, only No 4 Graham Langford reached double figures as theycrashed for 116 all out.
Liam Goddard (3-37) and Ashley Preston (3-21) shared six of the seven wickets to fall in Shiregreen's reply.
Eden Grove crashed to a six-wicket Division One defeat at home to Wath thirds.
Grove made a disastrous start with their top three batsmen all bagging a duck. Juniors Nabael Ahmad (14) and Gurpreet Singh (17) helped stop the rot when coming together in a fourth-wicket stand, but once they had departed wickets again fell cheaply and the only other man in double figures was tailender Umair Alam.
Wath made short work of knocking off the required 63 runs despite a 3-16 haul by Singh.
Kilnhurst Colliery seconds beat top-of-the-table rivals Hampole & Skelbrooke by three wickets in their Solly Sports Doncaster & District League Section A clash.
Put into bat, Hampole slumped from 64-2 to 108 all out. No 4 Alan Clark (23) was one of only four batsmen in double figures with Dean Norton taking 4-18.
Stuart Stubbins (2-13 in 11 overs) and Michael McGuckin (2-24 in 10 overs), made the visitors work hard for their win.
Third-placed Harworth beat Scholes seconds by 143 runs. The visitors made an impressive 234 all out - the highlight of which was a knock of 100 by No 6 Jeff Dickinson.
No 3 Ian Joyce (24) and No 5 Shay Dunning (29) also chipped in with supporting knocks.
Dickinson then weighed in with a 5-25 spell as Harworth bundled their hosts out for 91.
Adwick-le-Street seconds collected a winning draw at home to Parklands seconds.
An unbeaten knock of 62 by opener Paul Bishop, and a supporting knock of 28 by junior Danny Tingay, batting a No 4, helped steer Adwick to 176-6.
Eric Hibbling (2-37) and junior Chris Conroy (2-13) shared four of the wickets to fall.
Opener Christopher Kidd (28) and No 8 Hibbling, who cracked eight fours in his 50, were the only batsmen in double figures in Parklands reply of 124-9.
Chris Jeeves (3-38) and Darren Lovett (3-19) were the pick of the Adwick bowlers.
Brookhouse, for whom Sam Bowers hit an unbeaten 45, beat visiting Fenwick (132-8) by six wickets.
Wentworth beat Grimethorpe seconds by 146 runs.
Adwick-on-Dearne seconds posted a five-wicket Section B win over Brookhouse seconds.
Brookhouse elected to bat but were shot out for just 64 - Simon King doing the damage with a 4-3 spell. Andrew Foley and Robert Hood helped steer Adwick home.
Denaby & Cadeby seconds beat visiting Eden Grove seconds by five wickets.
Grove, for whom opener Dave Webster top-scored with 30 not out, helped give the visitors a decent start. But they slumped from 51-1 to 109-8 as junior Ryan Oakley took 3-46.
Opener William Finney, who cracked eight fours, hit a top-score 57 in Denaby's reply. Junior Alexander Menzhausen took 3-21.
Rossington Main seconds beat Hatfield Main by six wickets.
Put into bat, ten-man Hatfield made 131 all out with skipper Mel Bellamy (59) and No 8 Richard Marsh (35 not out) providing the bulk of the runs. Michael Richardson did the damage with a 6-40 spell.
Junior openers Matthew Hayward (25) and Sam Roby (26) gave Rossington a solid start with skipper Colin Sherrington (29 not out) and Joe Dodd (30 not out) finishing the job off. Bellamy took 3-24.
