AnotheR lost weekend for the South Yorkshire Senior League, with just three matches played.

The only game in the Premier Division saw Whiston newcomer Jafar Nazir steer the hosts to a narrow victory over Barnsley.

Nazir claimed 4-30 and colleague Scott Jones 3-26 as Barnsley slumped to 133, but after stuggling to 69-6 Whiston rallied to win by two wickets, thanks to late knocks of 31 from Alex Galloway and 21 from Pete Wilson, the pair putting on 45 for the seventh wicket, best bowling for Barnsley by Andy Ivill, 3-38.

In the only game completed in Division One, hosts Tickhill reached 155-9 against guests Rotherham Town B, James Doyle hitting a late 35, against the bowling of Lee Jeffries, 4-29, and Dave Mace 3-29. Town were then sent packing for just 86, of which Mace hit 38, by Alistair Skinner and James Crookes, each with three wickets.

Conisbrough B showed what could be done in adverse conditions by rattling up 263-8, despite the game being reduced to 41 overs, Nathan Lovell and Liam Stainthorpe each slamming 78, while Gary Porter took 4-48 for guests Maltby, who were seen off for 117, Bob Fuller grabbing 5-42 in only game played in Division Three.

Draw for the first round of the Whitworth Cup on Sunday: Group A: Wickersley v Whiston, Barnsley v Wath. Group B: Treeton v Elsecar, Whitley Hall v Aston Hall.
