YORKSHIRE fast bowler Ryan Sidebottom has apologised to the club’s fans following the Tykes relegation to the LV= County Championship Division Two.
Sidebottom, who took 62 wickets this season at an average of 22 runs, posted on Twitter: “Sorry to all Yorkshire fans, we tried our upmost to stay up. We’ll be back next year where I hope to take more wickets for you. Thanks.”
Meanwhile Yorkshire’s Tim Bresnan is one of three players - Chris Tremlett and Eoin Morgan being the others - to be awarded a central contract for the first time. All were part of the Ashes-winning squad this winter and have been rewarded by the England and Wales Cricket Board by making the elite 13-man list.
