JACO Castle, the man whose innings swept Whitley Hall to Yorkshire Champions Trophy glory last Sunday, leads the South Yorkshire League Premier Division batting averages.
He has 780 runs, including seven 50s, at an average of 97.5.
Second is Whiston’s Andy Tomlinson with 908 runs at 64.8 with Wickersley’s Christi Viljoen having 451 runs at 64.4.
The top run-scorer in the league is Adam Wiles from Division One side Kexborough.
He is enjoying a magnificent season and is the only player to top 1,000 runs, having hit nine 50s and two centuries in making 1,032 at 60.7.
Leading wicket-taker in the top flight is Elsecar’s Chathura Athukorala with 63 at 13.05, leaving him second behind Steve Foster whose broken arm means he won’t add to his 42 wickets. Third is Jaco Castle with 42 wickets at 14.17.
