NICK Gaywood continued his good start to the season whilst Will Street bagged five wickets as Sheffield Collegiate beat Barnsley by 25 runs in the ECB Yorkshire Premier League at Shaw Lane.
Gaywood bagged his second half century in the opening two games as he top scored with 75 in Collegiate’s 211-9.
Ed McKenna made 38 whilst Richard Wilkinson took 5-60.
Simon Widdup, 81 added 74 with Wilkinson, 49, for the fourth wicket and at 145-3 they were nicely poised but then Wilkinson was run out and Barnsley subsided to 186 all out with Street taking 5-97 in 203 overs.
Rotherham Town won the local derby against Doncaster Town by 28 runs.
James Moorehouse top scored with 62 and Jonathan Plater an unbeaten 33 in Rotherham’s 184-9 (Redfern 5-43) before Doncaster were dismissed for 156, Gareth Cox top scoring with 40.
Rotherham’s England U19 spinner Gurman Randhawa did all the damage taking 7-45.
Sheffield United went down to defeat at Castleford.
The home side made 236-8 with Paul Cummins picking up three wickets.
The United reply was headed up by Reece Shutt. He held it all together with an excellent 88 no out and received handy support from James Tetley 33 as they finished on 196-9.

In the South Yorkshire League’s Whitworth Cup, there were wins in their Group games for Wickersley and Elsecar.
At Armroyd Lane, Whiston made 212-7 with Andy Tomlinson making 75 and Peter Wilson striking 59 off 53 balls.
But Ainsley Swallow led Elsecar’s reply with 69 before Chathura Athukorala hit an unbeaten 57 to see them home at 214-8.
A magnificent 102 not out by Alex Davis off just 62 balls, with 11 fours and five 6s, helped Hallam to 275-5 (Humphrey Emery 53) but Wickersley replied with 276-2 (Gareth Davis 68, Shaajhan Younis 63no, James Bentley 63no, Haidar Jahangir 50).
