YOUNG giant Steve Finn could be the one to benefit from James Anderson’s injury misfortune when the Second Test starts at Lord’s on Friday.
Anderson is ruled out with the side strain which prevented him bowling in the latter part of the Sri Lanka first innings and then in the second innings when England dramatically won the First Test against Sri Lanka in Cardiff on Monday.
Finn was 12th man for that game and seems sure to get the nod although England have called up the Surrey bowler Jade Dernbach who played for England Lions recently against the tourists.
Yorkshire’s Ajmal Shazad also figured in that game but has not been in his best form hence the call for Dernbach.
The inclusion of Finn alongside Chris Broad and Chris Tremlett would mean the tallest three-man pace attack in Test history let alone in England history if they all play.
Skipper Andrew Strauss said they were also looking at a different, ‘skiddier’ type, hence the call for Dernbach.
