The South Yorkshire League came out on top of the Yorkshire League when their clubs clashed in the ECB National Club Championship.

Biggest winners were SYL champions Elsecar for whom all-rounder Glenn Yates had a magnificent day in their thrashing of Cleethorpes.

He struck 113 in their 219-8 and then took 6-14 in the home side’s 96.

Treeton’s 192 (Greg Norton 64no, Gareth Davis 50) was too much for Collegiate, 139.

Wickersley made 200 (Matt Burton 67) and then dismissed Rotherham Town for 162 (Jon Plater 43).

In the second round on May 11, Wickersley entertain Treeton and Elsecar go to Hanging Heaton. Barnsley, 206-6, three run winners at Cuckney, entertain Chesterfield.
