Title-chasing Yorkshire’s openers put on 270 in the first day of their LV= County Championship match against Durham.
Yorkshire were looking to make headway at the Division One summit, with title rivals Nottinghamshire having the week off from four-day action, and centuries from Adam Lyth (143) and Alex Lees (108) gave them the best possible start.
But 270 without loss became 365 for seven by stumps, with Mark Wood taking four for 76 and only Aaron Finch (36) adding a further meaningful contribution.
Dawid Malan was unbeaten on 90 as Middlesex reached 211 for four on an abbreviated first day against Somerset at Uxbridge.
Young opener Nick Gubbins made 59 and put on 109 with Malan, while Peter Trego took two for 39 before rain forced an early tea and prevented any resumption.
In Division Two, Graham Napier took four for 44 as Essex bowled out Derbyshire for 275 at Chesterfield, Wayne Madsen top-scoring with 90 while Wes Durston retired hurt on 74.
Tom Westley fell in the first over to fast bowler Mark Footitt as Essex closed on 25 for one in reply.
