Yorkshire’s County Championship game with Somerset drifted to an inevitable draw at Taunton.

The washed-out first day meant Andrew Gale’s side, having posted 450-5 dec, needed to bowl Somerset out twice in five sessions and when they had them 172-6, they were in with a sniff of a chance.

James Hildreth held them up. 76no overnight, he completed his century, falling for 115, one of Moin Ashraf’s three victims. Steve Patterson also took three in Somerset’s 310.

Yorkshire’s second innings closed on 104-4, with Adam Lyth hitting an unbeaten 57.
