CRICKET: ECB act over Twittergate

THE England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) have been drawn into the so-called Twittergate controversy which has surrounded Rossington CC of the South Yorkshire League (SYL).

The ECB are understood to have launched their own investigation into the affair which began with comments, including personal abuse against league officials. on the social networking site by some Rossington players.

The club held their own investigation and imposed punishment on seven of their players, but the SYL handed out stricter sentences on them including bans, for two players to the end of 2014.
