CHAMPIONS Whitley Hall have opened up a gap at the top of the South Yorkshire League.

The only unbeaten side in the Premier Division, Whitley have a seven point lead over Wickersley and Treeton who, intriguingly, meet at Washfield Lane on Saturday. Whitley are at home to Whiston Parish Church.

Meanwhile, Darfield - once the dominant force in the top flight - are pushing strongly for a return there and have a 14 point lead at the top of Division One.

Barnsley’s Yorkshire League Cup quarter-final which was washed out at York last Sunday with Barnsley 56-4, will be played this Sunday.

Notts have been fined £600 by the ECB for fielding Aussie David Hussey in their opening T20 match without registering him. They had clearance from Cricket Australia but an “administrative oversight” was responsible for him being unregistered. He scored 60 in the win over Derbyshire.
