Sheffield bragging rights went to Collegiate as they beat United by eight wickets in the Solly Sports Yorkshire Premier League at Bawtry Road.

Fifth-placedCollegiate were favourites to beat their rivals, who were 12th, butPaul and Mark Cummins got United off to a good start. Paul managed to slog his way to 57 before being caught by Matthew Dixon and Mark made 21 before suffering the same fate at the hands of Matthew Moroney.

But the wheels came off as the Collegiate bowlers started to pick off the United batting order to see them all out for 160 with Matthew Dixon claiming five wickets, junior Josh Varley hree and Oliver Pearson two.

It proved too big a task for United. Opening batsman Nicholas Gaywood hit nine fours and a couple of sixes in his 76no, Ashton Blakey added 26 before Simon Guy provided the perfect end to the game for Collegiate as he racked up 44 runs as his team reached the target of 161 with only two wickets lost.

Barnsley beat Rotherham in another South Yorkshire derby at Shaw Lane.

James Moorhouse and Gareth Purshouse got Rotherham off to a solid start scoring 38 and 56 respectively but they ended their innings at 196-9.

Matthew Wilson was the hero for Barnsley as his knock of 78 helped them reach the target with 2.6 overs to spare.
