BEN Sanderson proved a thorn in the side of his own Yorkshire colleagues to help Rotherham Town keep up the pressure at the top of the Yorkshire League.
The former Whitley Hall bowler, now at Headingley, inspired with the bat as Rotherham beat the Yorkshire Academy by five wickets to shrug off the defeat the previous day by York who thus leapfrogged Rotherham to regain top spot.
Firstly Sanderson took a couple of wickets as the Academy were dismissed for 228, Jack Leaning making 85.
When Rotherham replied, Sanderson entered at 127-4 and proceeded to produce a fine knock against the Yorkshire youngsters finishing with 64no which included seven fours and a six, to help steer Town to 229-5.
Town, 74pts, are four points behind leaders York both on 13 matches. Scarborough are third on 62 points.
