THERE will be a quick chance of revenge for Barnsley CC after their controversial, one run semi-final defeat at Scarborough in the Yorkshire League Cup.

They clash in the league at Shaw Lane on Sunday, a week after the dramatic run out of a player backing up which, it transpires, should not have been given out as the bowler had been in his delivery stride.

With Barnsley needing two runs to win to overhaul Scarborough’s 275-9, Barnsley’s last man Callum Millward, the non-striker, was run out by bowler Dan Evans.

Barnsley captain Richard Wilkinson said it was only later they learned a bowler in his delivery stride cannot then run out a batsman backing up.
